Adult Education and Literacy at Southwestern Illinois College Adult Education and Literacy offers instruction and programs for adults 16 years of age or older. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request.

Adult Education and Literacy offers programs, instruction, and services to individuals 16 years of age or older who: are not enrolled (or required to be enrolled) in secondary school and lack sufficient mastery of basic skills to function effectively in society; do not have a secondary diploma (or its recognized equivalent); or are unable to speak, read or write the English language. Classes and services are offered at the Belleville, Sam Wolf Granite City, Red Bud, and East St. Louis Wyvetter Younge campuses.
*Adult Education is an equal opportunity educator. For the purpose of compliance with Section 511 of Public Law 101-166 (the Stevens Amendment), approximately 45.83% ($567.994) of our federal funds were used to support adult education programs. Our grant-funded classes are offered free to eligible students through Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) as administered by the Illinois Community College Board.
