At our District-Wide PD Kick-Off last week, staff heard from Aleisa Pitt and Margo DeLibera of the Van Buren Education Foundation, who shared the incredible impact the Foundation continues to make across our district.

To date, the Foundation has awarded 321 grants totaling $171,541 to VBPS teachers. Those funds go right back into our schools, helping support creative ideas, classroom resources and meaningful opportunities for students.

We’re grateful for the Van Buren Education Foundation and its continued investment in our staff, schools and students. 🧡🖤

This week, our staff came together for the District-Wide Professional Development Kick-Off as we prepare to welcome everyone back on Monday!

Superintendent Pete Kudlak welcomed employees back, building principals introduced our newest VBPS staff members, and Community Education Director Becky Ross shared what’s ahead as the Community Education program enters its second year.

Savage Elementary welcomed incoming kindergarten students and their families for Kinder Camp this week. Students had a chance to get familiar with the school, meet new faces and start practicing those back-to-school routines.

Lady Tigers Flag Football is here for Fall 2026, and practices are already underway!
The high school league is open to both experienced and first-time players, with games running September 13 through November 8 at Northville High School.

A piece of Haggerty School history is looking for its way home. ❤️

As Haggerty School makes way for the new VBPS Operations Building, the engraved bricks that once surrounded the flagpole have been saved.
If one of these bricks belongs to you or someone you know, you’re welcome to pick it up at the VBPS Administration Building, 555 W. Columbia Ave., located behind the high school near the tennis courts.

🕗 Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

A special thank you to Barney Porzondek for helping preserve these pieces of Haggerty history for our families and community.
