Happy National Farmers Day!

Did you know Florida has approximately 44,400 farms and ranches? From citrus groves and strawberries to sugarcane fields, watermelons, fresh vegetables, and cattle ranches, Florida agriculture is something to be proud of.

Behind every harvest are hardworking farmers and ranchers who dedicate their time, energy, and passion to feeding families and supporting our communities. It isn’t always an easy job, but we are thankful that you have chosen to tend the fields and raise your crops, livestock, and families in this way of life that is hard, but yet rewarding.

So today we celebrate you, the hands that plant, grow, harvest, and keep Florida agriculture and say THANK YOU for all you do. Consumers, please do your part by supporting your local farmer by shopping local when you can.

Congratulations to our Turf team for placing 3rd at the Florida Turfgrass Science Invitational. The competition included a written test, turf id, cup cutting, soil moisture testing, equipment id, green speed, and a case study with presentation. This was a great contest and we would like to thank all those that made this event possible.

Some of our pictures from Greenhand Day yesterday. Our members received their Greenhand books to see what they need to do to earn their Greenhand degree. But more importantly, they got to all know each other and have some fun with some games and competitions- from egg toss to frozen t-shirt to tug of war. Congrats to the Neon team for winning in this very close and competitive year that came down to the tie breaker. We welcome all these Greenhands and can’t wait to see what all you do at BHS FFA.

We hosted our 2nd First Friday Breakfast. It was a great morning that allowed our members to enjoy breakfast and get to know each other better. We also passed out the Greenhands for each team and had an activity with those to allow them to know our officers better. A great way to start Greenhand Day 2026!

Meet our newest animal additions. We now have 3 Red New Zealand rabbits, 2 does and a buck. The students were very excited to meet them this week. Thank you to Adam Wright for this generous donation of rabbits and pens for our program.
