All feelings are welcome- not just the easy ones!

It’s okay for my child to be upset with me.
It’s okay if my “no” makes them angry.
It’s okay if they cry, feel disappointed, or need time to process.

My job isn’t to keep my child happy all the time.
My job is to keep them safe, loved, and emotionally secure.
To teach them that feelings are allowed here — all of them.

I don’t need to rush them out of sadness.
I don’t need to fix every uncomfortable emotion.
I need to stay present while they feel it.

Because one day, the world won’t always say yes.
Life won’t always be gentle.
And I want my child to know that even when things don’t go their way,
they are still held, still loved, still safe.

When I validate their feelings, I’m not giving in.
I’m giving them language for their emotions.
I’m showing them that love doesn’t disappear when feelings get big.

Happiness is beautiful.
But emotional safety is powerful.

So I say no when I need to.
And I stay close while they feel everything that comes after.
Because raising emotionally healthy children
means teaching them that all feelings are welcome — not just the easy ones 🤍
