Centre County HOPE Initiative Centre County He**in and Opioid Education and Prevention Initiative Overdose deaths are now the leading cause of accidental death across the United States.

The Centre County HOPE Initiative is comprised of various community agencies working collaboratively to eliminate substance abuse, including the unsettling rise in op**te drug use and overdoses. The Coalition and its members will achieve this through dedicated outreach, effective education, raising awareness, and supporting the availability of recovery support and treatment options to all members

of our community. According to the Centre County Coroner’s Office, there was 16 overdose related deaths in 2014, 15 deaths in 2015. In 2016, the number of related overdose deaths in the County is occurring at a frightening rate. Nationally, in 2014, there were 47,055 overdose deaths in comparison to 29,230 motor vehicle accident deaths; and in Pennsylvania, there were 2,497 overdose-related deaths. The he**in and op**te epidemic touches all ages, genders, race, and economic class – it has no boundaries. The Centre County HOPE Initiative wants to raise awareness not only about the national he**in and opioid epidemic, but also the impact the crisis is having on our state, and most importantly our local community.
