We are proud to announce that as of June 1st, Country Kids became a Tier II Quality Center. This means that our program exceeds the licensing requirements that the state sets for child care centers and provides a high quality learning environment for young children to grow in! We’d like to thank our amazing staff for their dedication and hard work in helping us achieve Tier II! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Tomorrow is the day! Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year opens on March 1st! We have limited spots and fill up quickly, so make sure you secure a spot now for your future Pre-K’er by filling out the online application at www.kcs.preschoolsteps.org and click the apply now button! (Please make sure it is for the 2023-2024 school year and not the current 2022-2023 year). We look forward to helping your child set a solid foundation for success all through their school careers!

We have been working with West Virginia Association for Young Children and other child care centers across the state to make a changes! We need your help to get House Bill 2854 passed! We are asking that you all send emails and make phone calls asking for this bill to be placed on the agenda for the Finance Committee.

One of the biggest issues providers face is how the state reimburses for children who are receiving subsidies. Parents must verify and continue to verify that they are working in order to receive subsidies, but child care providers are only paid for children receiving subsidies based on the child’s attendance. What does this mean?

This means if a child is sick, on vacation, having a mommy and me day, visiting grandma, mom’s car broke down so she can't make it in, etc., the child care provider doesn’t get paid. They still have to reserve one of the very limited spaces for the child even when they are absent but aren't paid for those days.

This makes it extremely hard for child care businesses to succeed. Our businesses, economy, and workforce rely on our success for their own success.

We have heard from legislators that parent voices will help make a difference, especially from those of you who have young children in child care.

I have attached a sample letter to the delegates, a copy of House Bill 2854, and the contact information with emails and phone numbers.
