Belle Fourche Writers

Belle Fourche Writers The Belle Fourche Writers began as a small group of local residents interested in preserving stories. New members are welcome.

The mission of the Belle Fourche Writers is to preserve memories and share experiences, to get the words "out of our heads" and onto paper, to reflect on and respond to the writings of others.

The mystery is about to begin. Who did it? You’ll have to follow the trail to find out.

Introducing the cast and directors of Murder at Legend Manor, an original mystery by C.A. Dougherty.

For 15 years, Theater on the Run has brought sold-out storytelling to the streets. This year’s production is especially meaningful. It is Charlotte’s final mystery and part of the Matthews’ 120th anniversary celebration.

Cast: Pat Rogge, James Williams, Sarah Burchhard, Travis Ruff, Amy Ruff, Aliva Ruff, Rene Stewart, Janet Ott, Kaydence Flory, Wilbur Newland, Jim Hood, Dwight Myers, Tammi Martin, Paul Soriano, and John Eisenbraun.

Directors: Toni Brun, Karen Holzer, Dennis Walkins, and Grant Binkleman.

Join us September 5 and 12, as one mystery unfolds across four scenes along Main Street. On September 13, Theater Running in Place gathers every scene of Murder at Legend Manor onto the Matthews stage and you keep your seat for all of it.

We're helping our friends at Coffee and the Cats and Vendors Emporium and Curiosities with a call for playwrights and performers - and it's for a great cause!

"Food for Thought" is looking for original short plays, 5 to 15 minutes in length, written for 1 to 3 performers. They are asking for stories that explore the battles we carry quietly, challenge assumptions, and remind us that everyone has a story.

Themes may include hidden struggles, food insecurity, mental health, loneliness, identity, compassion, resilience, forgiveness, poverty, and community.

Submission deadline: September 7, 2026
Performance: Friday, September 18 at 7 PM

Admission is a can of food, with donations benefiting Feeding South Dakota, helping fight hunger and support people across our state.

Help our community see what we might otherwise miss. Write a story. Share a story. Give us all something to think about.

Please each out directly to [email protected] if interested!
