Please take a minute and read this special announcement by the Black Hills Roundup regarding the upcoming carnival next week.
Announcement:
We understand there have been recent questions and conversations regarding the carnival scheduled at this year’s Black Hills Roundup, and we want to take a moment to provide clarity.
An incident occurred at a separate event several weeks ago with the carnival operator, and our hearts remain with the family and community affected. Since that time, the carnival has been permitted to operate at other events in good standing.
In South Dakota, carnival operations are subject to additional regulatory requirements beyond those in many other states. As part of this process, all rides and equipment must meet state compliance standards and inspected daily.
As for the Black Hills Roundup: An independent, third-party carnival inspector is scheduled to thoroughly evaluate all machinery prior to the carnival permitted to open in Belle Fourche to ensure everything is operating safely and in accordance with state regulations.
The carnival remains scheduled to join us in Belle Fourche, July 1-4, with many rides arriving in advance to ensure proper set-up and safety inspections are performed thoroughly.
We appreciate the continued support of our community and remain committed to delivering a safe, respectful, and memorable Roundup experience.
