The Cardinal Drumline had an early call this morning to start the school year off with an appearance on WDSU Channel 6 News! Did you catch our performance??

’Twas the night before Band Camp, when all through the town,
Not a trumpet was sounding, not one single drum pound.
The water bottles waited by the backpacks with care,
In hopes that tomorrow, the Cardinal Band would be there.

The tennis shoes waited all tied up just right,
The sunscreen stood ready for the warm summer light.
While parents enjoyed one last peaceful night’s rest,
The students all wondered who would march the best.

Tomorrow begins more than music and drill.
It starts with commitment, hard work, and the will
To push through the heat, the sweat, and the strain,
Because great bands are built through effort—not fame.

New friendships will grow, and old ones will last.
The days may seem long, but they’ll fly by fast.
Every set that you march, every note that you play,
Will help shape our season one step at a time.

So get plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast, too.
Fill up your water jug—it’s depending on you!
We’ll see everyone bright and early tomorrow morning, ready to work hard and have a great first day of Band Camp.
