The volleyball team picked up a big nonleague win on Wednesday, handling Beavercreek in three straight, 25-14, 25-14, 25-11. Kenley Von Handorf had 13 kills and four aces, and Addie Salem tallied eight kills and three aces. The win moves the Golden Eagles to 2-0 with two big games on Saturday at the Raider Invitational. Bellbrook will face Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy at 9 a.m. and Centerville at 3 p.m. at the Nutter Center. Those games – as well as a matchup between CHCA and Centerville -- bookend a Wright State match against Eastern Illinois. The JV team will also play.

The girls tennis team posted a dominating win over rival Alter on Tuesday at KTC Quail Run, winning 4-1 to move their record to 6-0 this season.
Tori Brown (6-0, 6-2), Elizabeth Heiner (6-0, 6-0) and Lucy Volesky (6-1, 6-1) all posted convincing wins at singles while Elaine Bao and Anna Howard won at second doubles, 6-4, 6-4. Chloe Hangen and Puja Modi fell in the most competitive match at first doubles, 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.
The team will put its unblemished mark on the line again today against Beavercreek.

This year will be 25 years since the events of September 11th, 2001. The Bellbrook JROTC will host a Remembrance Ceremony from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in Bellbrook Stadium. The ceremony will observe six moments of silence to commemorate each of the significant events that occurred that day at the specific time.

Those in attendance will be asked to pick up and wear the name of a victim from the World Trade Center, Pentagon, Airline, or first responder who lost their life that day and the participants' walk, run or stair climbs will be in honor of them. The stair climbing honors the first responders who climbed the stairs in the WTC, attempting to rescue those who were in the building at the time of the crash.

Much of the two-hour ceremony will be those in attendance walking, running or climbing stairs with pauses to observe moments of silence.

The rest of the time, the hope is that those who experienced the day firsthand (parents, teachers, coaches, community members, etc.), can reflect on and share their experience with students and children who were not there.

Big win in Week 1

TIPP CITY — Bellbrook coach Jeff Jenkins told his players after a season opener against Tippecanoe on Friday, Aug. 21 they went from being a group to a family during preseason practice.

This week’s Bellbrook Middle School Fantastic Friday shout-out goes to 6th Grade ELA teacher Shelly Smith for getting the school year started with collaboration, critical thinking, and a little friendly competition!
Mrs. Smith kicked things off with a Think-Pair-Share activity that challenged students to think about an important question: What does it mean to grow up? Students reflected on their own ideas, shared with a partner, and then brought their thinking to the larger group.
She followed that up with “Challenge or Triumph,” where students worked together to build the tallest tower possible using only a limited number of straws and paperclips while following a specific set of instructions. The activity challenged students to communicate, problem-solve, adapt, and work as a team when things didn't go exactly as planned.
What a great way to start the year by showing students that growing up means taking on challenges, working together, and learning how to respond when things get difficult!
Fantastic job, Mrs. Smith, creating an engaging start to the year for our 6th Grade Eagles!

Miss Tobin's third grade class completed a team-building activity for morning meeting at Bell Creek Intermediate. Students were given three pieces of paper, scissors and some tape and were asked to make the longest paper chain they could in 15 minutes. Students had to come up with a plan and execute the plan in their groups. They did a great job working together!

The Bellbrook Golden Eagles (1-1) posted their first win of the season on Thursday night, besting Wayne 2-1 at Bellbrook Stadium. Noah Feranec led the charge with a pair of goals, one assisted by Luke Higginbotham. Lane Deters had a save in goal and was largely untested in the first half. Bellbrook will be back on the road Monday at Indian Hill before returning home against Chaminade-Julienne, which kicks off a four-game stretch in the friendly confines of Bellbrook.
