With great sadness we must announce the passing of former HHGA President Tim Sanders. Tim was president from 2017 to 2019. Tim was always smiling. He loved the Houston Highland Games Association. Even after he moved from the Houston area, he stayed involved with HHGA. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends

In 2023 I sold everything to buy the derelict Highland Outdoor Centre (Est 1973) on the remote shores of Loch Nevis. There are no roads, no mains power, and access is by boat, 11km from Mallaig. It's fair to say everyone thought I was mad. It’s been a real challenge, but with the cottage nearly finished we finally have our dream home and the focus now turns to the next goal of opening in 2027 for self catering groups to come enjoy their activities in this isolated and scenic location. We started this page to show our journey of restoring the Highland Outdoor Centre and giving it a new lease of life whilst sharing the wild beauty of Loch Nevis along the way. Due to the impending ice storm that’s set to sweep through Houston, we’ve decided to postpone our Annual Burns Dinner. It seems even the weather couldn’t resist a little “haggis freeze!” ❄️

But fear not! We’re not letting a bit of Scottish weather get us down. The new date is now January 31, 2026! Join us at the Red Lion Pub as we thaw out our spirits and celebrate the Bard in true Highland style.
