The Post Oak School is a premier Montessori school in Bellaire, TX, and Houston's Museum District, serving children from 14 months through grade 12.

Post Oak offers a comprehensive education from infancy through high school, providing graduates with an International Baccalaureate education grounded in Montessori principles. Students at each level benefit from carefully prepared environments including a second campus dedicated to adolescent development that accesses partner institutions in the Museum District, Texas Medical Center, and downtown. Our 9/10 music class practiced their first Gamelan piece at Trinity Episcopal Church yesterday, guided by Paul Mortilla, our new music teacher at the Museum District Campus. Gamelan is a traditional Indonesian percussion orchestra made up mostly of tuned gongs, metal-keyed instruments, and drums.

What an incredible opportunity for our students to experience a new cultural music form! 🎵🌏✨💚

We loved being part of Parents’ Night at The Post Oak School in Bel Air! It was a great opportunity to meet families, connect with the community, and share our passion for music enrichment.

At Gramercy Music Academy, we believe music is for everyone. Getting kids involved early can inspire creativity, build confidence, and create a lifelong love of music. 🎵

In Montessori education, guides (teachers) do more than teach. They facilitate discovery. During this Upper Elementary math lesson, students are encouraged to think critically, contribute ideas, and take an active role in their learning journey. This dynamic exchange fosters confidence, independence, and a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. 💚

Our High School film class students got a master class in lighting and videography yesterday. While the professional crew filmed b-roll and interviews, the students not only observed but also participated in the set-up and asked lots of questions about the why. Why was that gel color chosen? Why did they have the interviewee sitting in the middle of the room rather than right against the backdrop? Why was the soft box situated in that location?

A glimpse into the full Post Oak journey. 🌱➡️🎓

At last night’s Post Oak Experience, families explored how learning unfolds from Early Childhood through High School, gaining insight into the intentional progression that defines a Montessori education. Along the way, they connected with student ambassadors, faculty, division directors, and administrators, and even observed an Elementary classroom in action.

A student from the Class of 2027 spoke about her experience at the High School. The evening also featured an update from our Head of School, who shared key insights from the recent ISAS report and highlighted our ongoing commitment to growth, excellence, and continuous improvement.

While campus is closed this week, construction moves forward—alongside the thoughtful tending of every detail, right down to the plants temporarily relocated as we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year. 🌱
