Celebrating the DBA 8th Grade Class of 2026. 🎓
Last weekend, our community gathered to honor a remarkable group of students and all they have accomplished during their middle school years.
We are so proud of our Ducks and excited to watch them soar into high school and beyond. 💚💛

Day 3 I Discovering the Wild Side of Beaver's Bend 🌲🐍🎣
Students spent the morning at the Beaver's Bend Nature Discovery Center with naturalist Josh, meeting rescued wildlife and learning about the animals that call southeastern Oklahoma home. We wrapped up our final day fishing in the Mountain Fork River and enjoying the beauty of Beaver's Bend State Park one last time.
What a wonderful way to end an unforgettable week of adventure, learning, and friendship.

Day 2 | Forest Science in Action 🌲
Students visited the Oklahoma State University Forest Resources Center to learn how forestry scientists study, protect, and improve one of our most important renewable resources: our forests.
From seedlings and tree genetics to conservation and sustainability, students explored how science, research, and land stewardship work together to help forests thrive for future generations.
A great reminder that forests are more than beautiful places to explore — they are living ecosystems that require care, research, and responsible management.

Day 2 | Learning Through Tradition 🧺
Students spent part of the day with artist Angelica Young learning about the history and meaning behind traditional Choctaw basket weaving.
Using colorful paper strips, students followed the same step-by-step weaving patterns used in the art form to better understand the patience, precision, and storytelling woven into the process.
Hands-on learning, creativity, and culture all woven together.

Day 2 | Morning at the Museum of the Red River 🦖
From studying Acrocanthosaurus atokensis—a dinosaur discovered in Oklahoma—to exploring the museum's collections, students stretched the way they see the world (one even turned sideways to do it 👀).
Learning, curiosity, and yes… even the chaperones had a roaring good time.

Day 1: Learning from the forest. 🌲
At the Forest Heritage Center Museum, students stepped into the story of the Ouachita National Forest—
exploring its history and how wood shapes our everyday lives.
But we didn’t stop at exhibits.
We smelled and touched medicinal and herbal plants with a naturalist,
and stepped into real-world science—learning about soil erosion from researchers in the field with Oklahoma State University.
This is what learning looks like at DBA—
hands-on, curiosity-driven, and rooted in the real world.

Day 1: We started with wonder. 🌲

Along the Friends Trail at Beavers Bend State Park, students hiked above the Mountain Fork River, taking in the views, the quiet, and the rhythm of the woods.
This is how we begin at DBA—
not at desks, but in the world.
Exploring our forest. Learning by doing.
