Horn Elementary Horn Elementary: Inspiring thinkers. Empowering students. Engaging families. A new chapter of excellence and connection—where every Cardinal can SOAR.

After two weeks, I think it’s safe to say this has been quite an adventure.

We’ve experienced no AC, AC, water, no water, and then no AC again. It hasn’t been easy, and I know these disruptions have been frustrating, uncomfortable, and exhausting for our students, teachers, staff, and families.

But through it all, I am incredibly proud of this community.

Our teachers continue to show up, adapt, problem solve, and give their very best to our students. Our students continue to learn, persevere, find ways to smile, and make the best of circumstances that are often outside of their control.

That’s who we are: a strong community of perseverers.

Week 2 may not have gone exactly as we imagined, but it has reminded me just how amazing this community is. Thank you to our teachers, students, staff, and families for your patience, flexibility, grace, and determination.

We may have had our share of challenges, but we continue to move forward together. And I couldn’t be prouder.

Here’s to making it through Week 2 and looking ahead to better days!

Mr. Hunt, Principal

🎉 Congratulations, Ms. Dang — Horn Elementary’s Teacher of the Year! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Ms. Dang, our outstanding 2nd Grade teacher, for being named Horn Elementary’s 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year! ❤️💙

Ms. Dang’s dedication to her students, commitment to excellence, and passion for teaching make a difference at Horn every single day. She represents the very best of what it means to be a Horn Cardinal!

As we wrap up Day 5 and our first week of school, I want to take a moment to say how incredibly proud I am of our Horn community.

First, a huge shout-out to our teachers and staff! Jumping straight back into procedures, routines, and rigorous instruction after a summer break is no small task. Yet, from the moment our doors opened Monday morning, our staff stepped up for our students. I have been so impressed by the dedication, patience, flexibility, and love I have seen across our campus this week. Our students are in great hands.

I also want to say a heartfelt thank you to our PTO, families, and entire community. When our AC went out on Wednesday and yesterday, our community did what Horn does best—we came together. The support, patience, and willingness to help reminded me once again what makes this school so special.

Horn has been my second home for the last nine years, and coming in at 6:00 AM yesterday and today to make sure our building was cool and ready for our teachers and students wasn’t even a second thought. My priority has been, and always will be, making sure our students, staff, families, and community are taken care of.

There will always be challenges that come our way, but this week was another reminder that we are stronger when we face them together.

Thank you, parents, for trusting us with your children each day. Thank you, teachers and staff, for giving our Cardinals your very best. And thank you to our PTO and community for always showing up for Horn.

Week 1 is officially in the books!

Rest up, Cardinals. I cannot wait to welcome everyone back on Monday and begin an amazing Week 2!

Mr. Hunt

Good morning, Pre-K and Kindergarten families!

Starting this morning, we will begin our normal arrival procedures. All Pre-K and Kindergarten students should arrive through Avenue B or the carpool line.

🚗 Please do not drop your child off at the front entrance unless you arrive after 7:35 AM.

Thank you for helping us keep morning arrival safe, smooth, and efficient for all of our Cardinals!

What an incredible first day of learning!

A heartfelt thank-you to all our teachers, staff, administrators, and students for making today such a success. Our admin team walked the campus several times throughout the day to check in with teachers and students, and we were so impressed by the learning, care, and enthusiasm we saw in every classroom.

A special shout-out to our Pre-K and Kindergarten teams! From arrival this morning through dismissal this afternoon, you showed immense patience and love for every student. You introduced routines and expectations right away, and everything ran so smoothly that it seemed as though those routines were already well established. Our students are already doing an amazing job learning what it means to meet Horn expectations.

To our first-grade team: Thank you for building loving relationships with your students from day one. They are already so excited to have you as their teachers!

To our second-grade and fourth-grade teams: Thank you for making time after school to plan as a team —even after such a busy first day. Your commitment to collaboration is truly appreciated!

To our third-grade team: Thank you for executing your first-day plans with such ease. Your preparation and teamwork were evident throughout the day!

To our fifth-grade team: Thank you for building excitement around all the things that make fifth grade at Horn so special. I could hear the excitement in every fifth grader!

To our support staff: Thank you for jumping in wherever you were needed, working alongside our teachers, and supporting our students. Your teamwork and willingness to help made a meaningful difference throughout the day!

To our Enrichment Team: Thank you for serving five different grade levels today! Your flexibility and ability to adjust your instruction to meet the unique needs of each grade level did not go unnoticed.

To our PTO Board: Thank you for creating a wonderful BooHoo Breakfast for our new Pre-K and Kindergarten parents. Your thoughtfulness helped make this important morning feel welcoming and supportive!

Finally, we want to recognize our afternoon dismissal teams for handling our first rainy-day dismissal with patience and care. Families, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigated our first rainy dismissal of the year!

We are so proud of our entire school community. Here’s to a fantastic year of learning and growing together!
