Good Morning Livestock Community,

7 days until the Possession Deadline for Market Steers, turn into the State Fair of Louisiana Livestock office.

28 days until the deadline to order DNA Kits Online for Market Goat, Commercial Meat Doe, Commercial Dairy Doe, Wether Dam, Market Lambs, Commercial Ewe, Commercial Heifers, and Commercial Dairy.

Please use Priority mail in case it gets lost when sending it in to the State Fair of Louisiana Livestock Office.

Please do not wait until the last minute to order the DNA kits.

These days we have snail mail, we don't have Paul Revere delivering anymore.

Livestock Judging Camp Details! May 26-28, 2026!

Each day will consist of numerous specie specific classes and one-on-one reasons designed to fit your student's level! Camp will take place on McNeese Campus from 9 am - 4 pm each day. Come one day or come all and you are guaranteed to learn! We will provide lunch PLUS a free workbook filled with tips and tricks.

T-shirts are open to the public. We will post the design soon! Reach out to Alex ([email protected]) to order.

Once you register, you will receive an invoice sent to the email you put on the form (please give us some time to process these). Attach the invoice with your payment. Registration and t-shirt fees are due May 20th! They are subject to late fees.

The Ag dept. students learned about different parts of the equine industry, tack, grooming, equine facilities, and so much more on our field trip today to The Stables at Le Bocage. 🐎

The dates for Validating LA Bred Steers and Heifers are as follows below.

***Tags must be ordered in advance!***

Procedure to order tags - send $50 per calf to 4325 Hwy. 582, Oak Grove, LA 71263 to Mr. Vendal Fairchild’s attention.

Tag order forms can be printed from the State Fair of LA web page.

Both the cow and calf must be brought to the validation.

Delhi Sale Barn – March 26, 2026 (10-12 pm)
Rosepine Research Station - Brian Galley – March 27, 2026 (10-12 pm)
LSU Baton Rouge – April 9, 2026 (10-12 pm)
R&R Cattle - Ron Springer, 1645 Keithville, LA 71047 – April 10, 2026 (10-12 pm)
LSU AgCenter – Dean Lee Research Station – April 25, 2026 (8-12 pm) *This (Dean Lee) will be the only Brand Commission certification this year.

**Veterinarians can also validate calves.**
