Private schools offer elitism in attitude and behavior as well. Even when non-wealthy kids get into elite schools, they are treated as lesser than by peers and are excluded from very expensive extras in certain sports, clubs, or trips abroad. Some susceptible students turn on their parents as lesser than to fit in, and will brown-nose and pledge fealty to the wealthy for access to the elite class - witness JD Vance. It's how bullies groom minions.

Parents aren't getting the deal they thought they would. And taxpayers aren't coming out ahead either.
