Hi Everyone, so new mandates are out. Most are worthless and do nothing but make certain groups of people feel better about living in fear. You know what you and yours need to do so just make it happen. I was taught as a child to cough/sneeze into my sleeve, cover my mouth, and wash my hands. It is actually no different than what's required today even wearing a mask. All masks do is help people to be lazy when coughing and sneezing, they don't have to work at raising their arm to their mouth. In addition, they have caused more dental problems and other psychological issues than they are worth. If wearing a mask masks you feel better, by all means do it, but just remember, when you still get sick, it wasn't the mask, it was the virus got you sick.

When entering work zones the cars stopped in front of you are probably stopped at a flagger. Please keep that in mind and do not attempt to pass them as you may be headed into oncoming traffic. Please pay attention to your surroundings when entering work zones.

Hi everyone. Rear Ends are the number one accident we have in Work Zones. With that in mind I would like to ask, if you see a "Road Closed" please do not stop and try to get directions or ask questions about what is going on. It's hectic enough in these situations for the workers and to have people stop in the middle of the road is an accident waiting to happen. This only heightens the opportunity for an accident to happen. Please, please, please just keep driving or turn around and find someplace to get online to ask your questions. As traffic control our job is safety, and if we are distracted talking to you, an accident is likely to happen. We are telling you to keep moving or not to stop for a reason, we are not there for PR or conversations.

Mason county got approved for Phase 3. I hope everyone stays safe as we try and return to some sort of normalcy although it will never be normal again I fear. Please keep washing your hands and avoid crowds or being around others when possible. Just because they are relaxing things for us does not mean it's over. We still need to be vigilant and keep up the good work we have been doing to stay safe.

Was doing some reading and came across an article that I think may interest a lot of people. Couple of points are the washing: make sure you air dry is the key to this. Using a tissue: make sure when you fold it the open side goes down. Also, there is a side article about half way down the page which talks about making your own mask that has some really interesting pointers.

If wearing a face mask causes your eyewear to fog up, washing your lenses with soapy water may help reduce fogginess and improve clarity.

I understand the desire for everyone to be safe. However, there is a right way and wrong way to do it. Wearing a respirator is not a "bad" idea, it's just the wrong idea, unless you have been properly trained. This includes the knowledge as to why you are wearing it, how to don and doff properly without cross contamination happening, how to fit test it when you put it on to make sure it is on properly and more. If you have the need, I am a certified Respirator instructor. I can come to your place of business and perform a class and help your employees to understand the need, care and wearing of a respirator. Contact me for more information about scheduling classes at
