💚 Member Shout-Out: Emma Rasch! 💛
We’re incredibly proud to celebrate Belding FFA member Emma Rasch and the continued success of her entrepreneurship project, Emma’s Treats and Toys! 🐾
Fair checks came last week, and Emma recently delivered a $630 check to the Ionia County Animal Shelter! The donation came from the proceeds of her still exhibit auction basket, along with money she raised selling her handmade pet toys and homemade treats.
And this isn’t her first time giving back! Combined with last year’s donation, Emma has now raised more than $1,100 for the Ionia County Animal Shelter! 🐶🐱❤️
Emma’s hard work has also earned recognition at the state level — she received a Michigan 4-H State Award for her youth entrepreneurship project during Exploration Days at Michigan State University.
We love seeing our members use their talents, SAE projects, and entrepreneurial spirit to make an impact beyond the classroom. Way to go, Emma! Belding FFA is proud of you! 💙💛

🐥💙 It’s hard to get any work done when your project is this cute! 💛🐥

Our Belding FFA members have been getting to know the newest additions to the ag room as they kick off this year’s Michigan FFA Broiler Project.

There were plenty of smiles, a whole lot of peeping, and maybe just a few students asking if they could keep one. 😂

These little chicks have a lot of growing to do over the next several weeks—and our students have a lot to learn along the way!

🐥 The Belding FFA Broiler Project has begun! 🐥

Last week, some very small and fluffy new residents arrived at Belding — but this project is about much more than cute chicks! 💙💛

The Michigan FFA Broiler Contest gives students the opportunity to experience poultry production from beginning to end.

Over the next several weeks, our students will raise and care for broiler chickens while learning about:
🐔 Animal care and management
🌽 Nutrition and feed efficiency
⚖️ Growth and weekly weights
📊 Record keeping and calculations
🥩 Poultry production and processing

At the end of the project, students will select birds to take to the Michigan FFA Broiler Contest, where the birds are processed and evaluated. Students will also complete a project report and answer questions about the management decisions they made along the way.

It's a hands-on look at where our food comes from and the science, responsibility and agriculture behind raising livestock for food.

For now, though… they're still pretty darn cute. 🐥💛

💚💛 Belding FFA Visits MSU! 💚💛

On Tuesday, September 29, we had the opportunity to take a group of Belding FFA students to Michigan State University for a campus tour! 🎓🌱🐄

Students learned more about MSU and explored several different areas of study and career opportunities, including Animal Science, Planning, Design & Construction, Plant & Soil Sciences, Food Science, and Natural Resources.

Trips like this give our students a chance to see firsthand just how many different paths are available in agriculture and beyond — and maybe even discover a future career they hadn’t considered before!

We also had a fun surprise while on campus when we ran into a familiar face — Charlotte Garrison, our past Belding FFA President! 💙💛 We always love seeing where FFA takes our members after high school.

Thank you to MSU for welcoming our students and giving them a great look at the opportunities available after graduation!

On Tuesday, September 29, we had the opportunity to take a group of Belding FFA students to Michigan State University for a campus tour! 🎓🌱🐄
