Welcome to the FIRST year of gardening at TMCHS! ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐พ๐ง๐ผโ๐พ
Our gardening journey officially began on April 30 when we planted seeds in the high school greenhouse for both our outdoor garden and greenhouse growing beds. Since then, weโve been learning something new every week about maintaining a greenhouse that was originally designed for winter use and adapting it for year-round growing.
Exciting newsโlast night and this morning, we planted our very first garden bed! ๐ฟ While weโre getting started a little later than usual, a combination of scheduling challenges and rainy weather delayed our launch. Weโre thrilled to finally get things growing!
The best part? The fresh produce from our garden will be used in the TMCHS cafeteria and cooking classes, giving students the opportunity to enjoy and learn from food grown right here on campus. ๐ฅ๐ฅฌ๐ถ๏ธ
A huge thank you to Monti LaVallie and the school Event Staff, TMC USDA Extension Director Michelle Short-Azure, TMC Anishinabe Campus tilling crew, and garden volunteer Jeanette Laducer for their support, guidance, and hard work in helping this project take root. ๐ฑ๐
Weโll continue sharing updates as the garden grows! In the meantime, feel free to leave positive thoughts, encouragement, and your favorite gardening tips in the comments. ๐ซ๐ถ๏ธ๐ฅ๐ฅฌ๐ฅฆ๐
Hereโs to a season of learning, growing, and harvesting together! ๐๐ป
