Happy Week of the young child!
For those of you who don’t know- week of the young child is a whole week dedicated to celebrating and recognizing the importance of early childhood and the people who support young children - families, teachers and communities.
We celebrated with various themes and activities led by the children. We got messy, made delicious snacks, worked together and celebrated with family!

Literacy Night 2026 was a huge success! Everyone seemed to enjoy our Hawaiian theme and participating in various activities related to island life and ocean conservation. 🌺🌊
It’s no secret that children learn through play—this includes pre-literacy development. Pre-literacy skills develop from birth through age five. 💡 Did you know that before babies can verbally express themselves, they can understand different words, sounds, pitch, and rhythms?
Pre-literacy skills include phonological awareness, print concepts, letter recognition, vocabulary, and narrative skills. We can foster pre-literacy development through play activities that give children a chance to see different words and letters, experiment with letters through sensory experiences, and offer opportunities for narration—and of course, lots of reading!
