The Early Learning Center From the moment you step through our doors, you’re not just joining a school. You’re becoming part of a family. You enter as a friend and leave as family.

Our goal at the Early Learning Center is to encourage children of all abilities to develop socially, emotionally and intellectually while gaining a positive self-image in preparation for kindergarten. The balanced curriculum incorporates the latest technology, including interactive SMART boards in each classroom, as well as instruction in language arts, math and science-plus art, drama, crafts, and story time. We offer full day and half day preschool at the ELC- hope you join our family.

We’re so happy to welcome Miss Alexa back to the Early Learning Center for another year! Alexa is beginning her fifth year at HCC’s Early Learning Center and her third year as a classroom teacher. 💙

Originally from Colombia, Alexa has called Harford County home for the past 15 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communications and her 90-hour Child Care Certificate. As a bilingual mom of two, she brings a warm, family-centered perspective to her classroom each day.

Alexa is passionate about creating a loving and nurturing environment where children can build independence, practice kindness, and learn through hands-on play and exploration. We are so fortunate to have her as part of our Early Learning Center family! 🥰

The Early Learning Center at Harford Community College is enrolling students for our full-day and half-day programs for 3- and 4-year-olds!
Our full-day options run from 7-5:30 and include breakfast and snack.
Our half-day options meet from 8:30-12:00 for 4-year-olds, and 9:00-11:45 for 3-year-olds. Both options include a snack.

We are MSDE accredited and have a 5-star Excels rating!

I am so thankful for all of the teachers at the ELC. They work tirelessly and give so much of themselves each and every day. Their patience, creativity, and genuine care create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel valued and inspired to learn.

Our teachers do more than teach, they build confidence, spark curiosity, and lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Through their guidance, children develop not only important academic skills, but also social and emotional strengths that will shape who they become.

The impact they have reaches far beyond the classroom. Every encouraging word, every thoughtful lesson, and every moment of support helps shape young minds in meaningful and lasting ways. We are truly grateful for the dedication, passion, and heart they bring to our school community.

Registration is now open for fall enrollment at Harford Community College’s Early Learning Center (ELC), offering full-day and half-day preschool programs for children ages 2–5. At the ELC, our youngest Owls engage in meaningful learning experiences that support their social, physical, and academic development.
The Early Learning Center is licensed by the Maryland Department of Early Childhood, fully accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education, and proudly recognized as a Level 5 program in Maryland EXCELS, the state’s highest quality rating. These distinctions reflect the ELC’s commitment to excellence in early childhood education.
The ELC provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children of all abilities are encouraged to grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually while building a strong, positive self-image. Our comprehensive curriculum includes language arts, math, and science, along with enriching experiences in art, crafts, dramatic play, and story time.
