Created to motivate and assist Beeville Independent School District high school students in receiving post-secondary educations, the Joe Barnhart Scholarship Program has benefited 1,650 students since the program began in 1998. The program is unique in two ways: the collaboration between a public school and a private foundation - and the one-on-one relationship of each student w

ith a volunteer mentor. Over 50 volunteers work with students to counsel, encourage and assist students individually in completing paperwork necessary for obtaining college admission and financial aid. Currently the program Director has acquired $20 million in financial aid for the students of Beeville. In addition, the Foundation provides financial assistance for some students. Since the program began, Beeville school officials have noted a rise in the number of students taking college entrance exams and a decline in the student dropout rate. In 2008 the Program was expanded to include high school freshmen by focusing on aptitude testing and exploration of students' interests and possibilities.

What a GREAT turnout we had at tonight’s JBSP College Application Workshop! ❤️ We loved seeing so many of our seniors taking that next big step toward their future. The JBSP Team was busy helping students complete college applications, work on resumes, proofread information, and make sure they are on the right track!

Because of the wonderful turnout, we’re doing it again! 🙌

🎉 Meet the Newest Member of the JBSP Team! 🎉

We are so excited to officially welcome Daisy Hinojosa, our newest JBSP team member! She joined us on June 16th and has already fit in perfectly with our team. ❤️

As our new Program Coordinator, she will be working primarily at Moreno Junior High, where she’ll help students begin exploring their futures through career exploration activities and programs. She has been working hard behind the scenes getting ready, learning all things JBSP, and preparing for a great year with our MJH students!

We are so happy to have her as part of our team and can’t wait to see all the wonderful things she will do with our junior high kiddos. ✨

Congratulations to Danica Brionez, our first ACJ senior to complete and submit a university application through the Joe Barnhart Scholarship Program! Today, she officially applied to Texas A&M University-Kingsville! 💙💛

And she’s just getting started! She plans to apply to several more colleges and universities, and the JBSP Team is excited to be right beside her throughout the process.

We can’t wait to see where this journey takes her and what her future holds! One application down…more to go! 🎓✨

While many students are enjoying sleeping in during summer break, these amazing young people chose to wake up early and give back to their community!

This morning, several ACJ students volunteered at the Coastal Bend Food Bank distribution at ACJ, helping serve local families with kindness, compassion, and a willingness to work. Their dedication to helping others is a wonderful reminder that making a difference doesn’t take a break during the summer.

We are incredibly proud of these students for giving their time and energy to support our community. Thank you for leading by example and showing what it means to serve others. Your hard work and positive attitudes did not go unnoticed!
