What happens next deserves a careful plan.

A quiet welcome and a clear place to start can make returning less awkward: “We’re on question three. I’ll help you catch up.”

Sometimes the behavior is less about the request itself and more about what the moment feels like: pressure, loss of control, or not feeling heard.

The response still needs a boundary, but understanding what is driving the pushback can help us choose one that keeps the student in the conversation.

The goal is to help them understand what happened, who was affected, and what needs to happen next.

You're expected to decide what happens next while also supporting staff, keeping students focused on learning, and creating consistent responses across the school.
