I loved watching what an incredible mother Jackie was and the beautiful relationship she shared with Shadow. We can learn so much from nature—about devotion, resilience, partnership and the bittersweet beauty of letting our children find their wings.

As my youngest “flew the nest” for college today, I can’t help but think about Jackie and all the joys, heartbreaks and ups and downs she experienced while raising her chicks. A mother’s love is fierce and tender—and even when it is time to let them fly, a piece of our heart will always fly with them.

Fly high, beautiful Jackie. You were such a remarkable mother, and you will be deeply missed. 🦅🤍
