⭐️ 20 pages + One very proud 3rd grader. ⭐️

Olivia spent her September work cycle writing “The Great Berry Return” - a 20 page story she created from start to finish.

Today, she read it to the younger students. Her voice was a little shaky, her papers were rumpled from being carried around and worked on, and she was beyond proud.

Sometimes we underestimate what kids this age are capable of. Give them the time, the challenge, and the expectation that they can do something big - and they might just surprise you!

Rainy days are a good reminder that learning doesn’t always look the way we expect.

Sometimes it’s unorganized, muddy, and definitely not sitting still.
Plans change, expectations shift, kids adapt — and somehow a lot gets learned in the middle of all of it.

Usually, the lesson is finished before the learning is.

Confidence comes from understanding something well enough to use it, explain it, and build on it later. That kind of foundation creates capable learners — children who are less dependent on being shown the next step because they understand the one before it.

Small classrooms make more of that possible: more time to notice when a child truly understands, when they need another pass, and when they’re ready to move forward.
