Tonight we discussed and practiced spiritual healing as the Course teaches.

QUESTION: DID JESUS ACTUALLY HEAL PEOPLE?
ANSWER: Not exactly. Jesus facilitated healing because
God is the true source of all healing.

As children of God—and extensions of God—we can also become instruments of healing. In fact, A Course in Miracles teaches that healing is part of our purpose.

So how do we do that?
1. Recognize the Spirit within ourselves.
We learn to move beyond the ego and connect with our true Self - the divine light and love that we are.
2. See that same Spirit in another.
Through what Jesus calls Vision (or seeing with our inner eye), we look beyond the body and personality and recognize our fellow beings as the same divine light and love that we are.
3. Join in the awareness of our Oneness.
When we extend that light and love to another, we move beyond the illusion of separation and the fear it creates. We recognize that, at the level of Spirit, we are already joined.

This joining in divine love is true healing.

And because the light and love that we are is an extension of God, God remains the true source of all healing.

In tonight’s meeting we talked about the healing of relationships. In fact, someone pointed out that the words ‘relationship(s)’ appears 449 times in the text!

If the goal of our spiritual path is the accessing of our divine reality, which is heaven, it is only through healing our relationships with all our brothers that we can complete this journey.

As we know, divine reality, or heaven is complete and total oneness. The reason why we do not experience this oneness as our reality is because we live in the illusion of separateness.

• The unhealed relationship is the relationship between two beings who experience themselves as separate individuals.
• The healed relationship is the relationship in which we experience each other – NOT as separate individuals – BUT as spirit beings that constitute divine oneness. And perfect unconditional love is the manifestation of that oneness and THAT IS HEAVEN.

How do we heal the unhealed relationship?
How do we transcend the illusion of separateness?

1 .Let go of the perception of being separate, which is the true meaning of forgiveness
2. Use vision to see with our ‘inner eye’, both our brother and ourselves as spirit beings of light and love.
3. With that vision we behold our ‘ONENESS’

It is therefore that THE HEALED RELATIONSHIP with our brother is our key to heaven.

FROM OUR TUESDAY NIGHT ACIM DISCUSSION

This question came up tonight: when someone is being artistically creative, can this be a spiritual happening? If so, what makes it spiritual?

The artistic object itself, like a painting, piece of literature or a sculpture, etc. is always a form in time and space. Spirit, or divine reality, as we know, is formless and beyond time and space. So how can form be a spiritual happening?

The answer to this is actually quite obvious. Although the work of art cannot be an aspect of divine reality itself, it can certainly point to divine reality as a form of communication.

Another crucial question in this context is about the source of the creativity, can ego create a spiritual work of art? As the ego is by definition the separation from divine reality, it cannot by itself be the source of a spiritual communication. However, we can certainly be inspired to create spiritually by the holy spirit within.

As we all have the ability to express ourselves through art, can you imagine creating a spiritual work of art?

Tonight's topic was about the illusion of sacrifice, an ego concept based on the belief in guilt and limitation of self and a direct result of the illusion of being separate from God.

Being the love that he is, God only creates beings that are love and extensions of himself, who can fully participate in his glory and perfection.

If sacrifice means giving something away, and suffering a loss, how is that possible if we are complete perfect and whole?

Therefore, sacrifice is an ego illusion based on the self concept of guilt and limitation.

A common new age, spiritual understanding is that we are spirit beings having a human experience. A Course in Miracles is a teaching that guides us through a process to transcend the human/ego experience, and thereby re-access our experience as spirit beings.

Here is a basic and simple example of the process.
- Imagine yourself in the typical human/ego experience where
through your judgement of something you become angry,
annoyed or upset.
- Therefore, if your judgement is the cause for the upset, letting go
of judgement would be undoing the ego.
- By letting go of our judgement, we access our spirit reality
because spirit is without judgement.

This letting go of judgement is the true meaning of forgiveness.

Tonight we discussed Chapter 31, Section 8, Choose Once Again. The spiritual path which the course describes is a process of constantly choosing between the illusory world of the ego and the reality of heaven, which is the awareness of perfect oneness.

Therefore this teaching is about choosing heaven, here and now, by transcending the ego.

At tonight's meeting part of our conversation was about Heaven and we quoted the Course's definition of Heaven.

In Chapter 18, Section 6, Paragraph 1, Sentence 5 and 6

'Heaven is not a place, nor a condition. It is merely an awareness of perfect oneness, and the knowledge that there is nothing else; nothing outside this oneness, and nothing else within.'

If Heaven is merely an awareness, does Heaven have anything to do with death? In other words, is death a pre-requisite to attain the awareness of this perfect oneness?

If in fact, death is not a pre-requisite to the awareness of Heaven, is death even a reality?

How do you approach A Course in Miracles?

Last night we had a very interesting discussion about how each of us approaches the teaching of the Course in Miracles.

It turns out, while yes, we ARE all one, each of us processes the teachings in our own way. Our group last night included people who process the lessons logically, intuitively, practically, philosophically, and emotionally. While we all hear and process the teaching in our own way, the message is consistently the same.

One of our group members wrote a song in honor of the lessons learned in the group. This song, "To Climb the Hill" is about freedom, letting go of the noise of life and just living to be. It's like climbing the hill, when you get to the top, you get to see all the lights and the noise below.
