Months of research lead to a big moment for our third graders: the Changemakers Live Wax Museum. Through posters, portraits, and presentations, students stepped into the stories of the inspirational figures they studied.

Our community celebrated student creativity across all grade levels at the Art and Innovation Showcase. Student artwork filled the halls, and families enjoyed live musical performances, including student band Riptide.

What do pizza, dumplings, bagels, tortillas, and croissants have in common? Dough!
Eighth graders have been exploring how something as simple as flour and water has shaped civilizations, sparked innovation, built communities, and fueled revolutions. From ancient bread ovens to modern food trends, they’ve traced the history of dough across cultures — and then rolled up their sleeves to make it themselves while participating in cooking classes.

Fourth graders stepped back in time this morning during their Industrial Revolution Showcase in the RCS Playhouse.

After the performance, families visited the Innovation Center, where they designed wind-powered vessels on wheels in just 10 minutes and then tested and refined them in timed trials powered by a large fan — extending students’ study of force and motion and forms of energy.

In the Library and Media Center, students shared newspaper-style articles based on historical events. Working in pairs, they revealed their Invention Hall of Fame lists, highlighting innovations such as the locomotive, telegraph, and steam engine. Families also played Guess the Invention, a game featuring clues about world-changing inventors.

From a stage performance to sailboat races and historical reporting, the morning highlighted the enthusiasm and engagement of our fourth graders in this interdisciplinary learning experience.

The varsity squash team has built MOMENTUM this winter through a competitive slate of matches against Hackley, Masters, Sacred Heart, Windward, and Brunswick. They recently faced Rye Country Day School in a competitive matchup.

“Our varsity squash team is having an outstanding season thus far,” Coach Jen Sednaoui said. “The improvement in all our 14 players is remarkable.”

Coach Sednaoui credited the team’s daily training sessions at Saw Mill Club East, along with support from coaches Asif Khan and Storrs Coté, for helping athletes sharpen their skills and deepen their understanding of match strategy.

She continued, “Coach Khan, Coach Coté, and I could not be more excited to see the advanced level of play, improved skills, better understanding of strategy, and palpable energy and enthusiasm for the game of squash.”

The varsity girls basketball team faced Resurrection Middle School in a highly competitive game on February 5.

Both teams brought intensity from the opening tip, creating a fast-paced matchup filled with quick transitions, aggressive defense, and determined rebounding. RCS worked to generate scoring opportunities through strong passing and smart offensive movement, while also applying pressure defensively to challenge Resurrection’s rhythm. This caused a high number of steals in Ripp’s favor.

Head Coach Ken Jordan said the team’s success this season has been rooted in both talent and attitude.

“This year’s team is a perfect mix of skilled athletes, hard workers, and dynamic personalities,” Ken said. “The players arrive at each practice and game ready to go and give their best effort.”

He noted that the team has continued to stand out for its ability to work together in every aspect of the game, particularly on defense.

“Their teamwork is always on display, with exceptional passing, shooting, and rebounding,” Ken said. “The swarming team defense has led to many fast break opportunities, and few teams can run with this group.”

Layla Lakamp ’27 said the season has been a positive one, and she credits the team’s unity as one of its greatest strengths.

“It’s been a pretty good season so far,” she said. “My favorite thing representing the school is definitely working together as a team, and having each other help with the plays so we can make some baskets.”

Ken concluded that what makes the group special extends beyond their performance during games. “My favorite thing about this team is the way they pick each other up, supporting and cheering on their classmates on the court,” he said. “They are skilled basketball players, but ultimately they are an incredible group of young people, and it is a joy to work with them each day.”

Families joined us on campus for Math Morning, an event that offered a look at the RCS Math Program through their children’s eyes.

Fifth graders took their study of the United States on the road during today’s Road Trip Showcase. 🇺🇸 In partners, students planned themed journeys across five states, complete with itineraries and digital scrapbooks. Visitors were invited to stop by and ask, “Tell me about your trip!”
