Thank You to Our Community Partner!

A special thank you to the Church of Christ at Center Road for their continued generosity and support of our students and classrooms! This year, the church donated 40 backpacks filled with school supplies to help ensure our students have the resources they need for a successful school year.

We are grateful for community partners who continue to invest in and support our students and families. Thank you, Church of Christ at Center Road, for making a difference in our school community!

DISTRICT CLOSURE | Wednesday, September 2, 2026

All Bedford City School District schools will be CLOSED on Wednesday, September 2nd due to anticipated extreme heat and its impact on conditions within our school buildings.

The decision was made after reviewing the forecast and assessing our facilities and their ability to maintain appropriate learning and working conditions during the expected heat.

We appreciate the understanding of our families and staff as we prioritize the well-being of our students and employees.

🚲 BIKE WITH THE MAYOR IN OAKWOOD VILLAGE!

Our friends in the Village of Oakwood are inviting the community to get outside, get active and ride together with Mayor Erica L. Nikolic at the upcoming Bike with the Mayor community event!

🗓️ Saturday, September 5
⏰ 9:00 AM – Noon
📍 Oakwood Community Park | 1 Mt. Zion Circle

All ages and skill levels are welcome! Bring your bike, helmet and a friend and enjoy a morning featuring a community bike ride, music, raffle and community picnic. 🚴‍♀️🎶

♻️ Have an old or broken bicycle collecting dust? The event will also offer an opportunity to donate or recycle bikes to help provide bicycles to local families in need.

WELCOME BACK, BEARCATS! 💚🐾

The doors are open. The hallways are coming alive. And across Bedford City School District, a new year of possibilities is officially underway.

Today marks the beginning of the 2026–2027 school year for many of our Bearcats, with more students joining us through our staggered starts in the days ahead. To every student stepping into a classroom, every educator ready to inspire, every staff member working to make our schools thrive, and every family and community member standing behind them—welcome back.

This year, we pledge to keep pushing forward together. To create opportunities. To celebrate achievement. To meet challenges with purpose. And above all, to give our students the support, encouragement, and experiences they need to become their very best.

And we need our entire Bearcat community with us.

Show up. Stay connected. Celebrate our students. Support our schools. Get involved. Help us make 2026–2027 a year our students will remember.

Because no matter the school, building, classroom, field, stage, or neighborhood—we are united by one mission and one community.

We broke ground—and we did it together. 🏗️💚🐾

Saturday marked a historic day for Bedford City School District as we officially broke ground on the new Bedford High School, opening the next chapter in a story years in the making.

Our ceremonial “first digs” intentionally brought together the many groups that helped make this moment possible:

• Board of Education members
• City and government officials spanning our 4 municipalities, including Mayors of Bedford, Bedford Heights & Oakwood Village!!
• BHS Leadership + BCSD administrators and staff
• Our partners at GPD
• Members of our community!!

That representation mattered.

Building the future of Bedford City Schools has taken vision, advocacy, collaboration and the support of people throughout our district and the communities we serve. Each shovel in the ground represented a piece of that collective effort.

When the new Bedford High School opens in 2028, it will stand as the centerpiece of our new facilities and a lasting investment in generations of Bearcats yet to come.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring us to this moment and everyone who came out Saturday to celebrate it with us.

The ground is broken. The future is taking shape.

As Athletic Director, James will play an important leadership role in guiding our interscholastic athletic programs, supporting our student-athletes and coaches, and helping ensure that Bedford Bearcat Athletics continues to reflect the values of sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork, and excellence.

James brings years of experience in athletic administration, coaching, and education, along with a genuine passion for helping students succeed both on and off the field of play.
