WELCOME BACK, MR. EVANS!

Bedford City School District is pleased to welcome Tom Evans back to BCSD as Interim Superintendent for the 2026–2027 school year.

Mr. Evans, who previously served as Interim Superintendent during the spring of 2026, officially returned Monday, September 14th, and is looking forward to joining our staff, families and community once again as we continue the work of moving BCSD forward.

We also offer our sincere THANK YOU to Charlie Keenan, whose leadership throughout the summer helped guide the District through an important transition and into the start of a new school year.

There are many exciting things happening throughout BCSD, and we look forward to continuing that momentum together — always with our students at the center of the work.

FATHERS SHOW UP. STUDENTS THRIVE.

This Thursday, September 17th, Bedford City School District is proud to participate in Cuyahoga County’s 21st Annual Father’s Walk Initiative!

Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, father figures and other positive male role models are invited to start the morning by showing our students just how much their presence and support matter. 💚🐾

Five BCSD schools will participate this year:

🐾 Glendale Primary School
🐾 Central Primary School
🐾 Carylwood Intermediate School
🐾 Columbus Intermediate School
🐾 Heskett Middle School

Each school has its own starting location and walk time, so swipe through to find the information for your student’s school.

The Father’s Walk is more than a walk to school—it’s an opportunity to demonstrate the power of presence, encouragement, mentorship and community in the lives of our students.

25 years later, we will never forget. 🇺🇸

Today, Bedford City School District joins our nation in solemn remembrance of September 11, 2001.

We honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, remember the courage and sacrifice of first responders and everyday citizens who answered the call to help, and recognize the countless families and communities forever impacted by the events of that day.

As a school community, we also understand the importance of ensuring that new generations learn about September 11—not only as a moment in history, but as a lasting lesson in courage, service, compassion, and unity.

On this 25th anniversary, we pause together to remember and honor.

We Will Never Forget.

💚 ONE MORE TIME FOR MRS. MOISIO! 🐾🎉

As our school year kicked off in late August, one Heskett Middle School educator received a surprise she never saw coming — and one that reminded us just how special our educators truly are.

On August 24, Heskett Health & Physical Education teacher Stephanie Moisio thought she was beginning another school year alongside her colleagues. Instead, coworkers, family, representatives from Meijer and WKYC Channel 3 were waiting to celebrate her commitment to students with an incredible surprise: $2,000 from Meijer to support education-based initiatives.

For a veteran educator known for going above and beyond — including investing her own resources to support her students — the recognition was an emotional one. 💚

Our cameras were there for some of the moments leading up to the big reveal, and we wanted to celebrate this moment one more time from the BCSD perspective!

Congratulations, Mrs. Moisio! Your dedication represents the heart of what it means to Inspire Everyone, Every Day, to Achieve Excellence. We are proud to have you as part of Bearcat Nation! 🐾👏

And a special thank you to Meijer and WKYC Channel 3 for helping shine a light on an educator who gives so much to her students.

🎥 Watch the behind-the-scenes moments and the surprise unfold!

HOMECOMING WEEK 2026 IS HERE! 💚🐾

Bearcats, Bedford High School’s Homecoming Week is September 14–19, bringing together students, staff, families, alumni and our community for a week of school spirit, tradition and Bearcat pride.

The celebration begins with Spirit Week, (September 14–18), featuring a different theme each day at BHS (and participation across all our schools!) and plenty of green and white pride throughout the week.

Then, some of our biggest Homecoming traditions take center stage:

Wednesday, Sept. 16 | 6 PM
💚Homecoming Parade — traveling from Central Primary School to Bedford High School/Bearcat Stadium. Come out, line the route and cheer on our Bearcats!

Friday, Sept. 18 | 7 PM
💚Homecoming Football Game at Bearcat Stadium — including the announcement of BHS Homecoming King, Queen and the rest of the Royalty Court at halftime.

Saturday, Sept. 19 | 7–10 PM
💚Homecoming Dance: Masquerade Party — for BHS students only. Doors open at 6:30 PM.

Homecoming is more than a game or a dance. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the tradition, school spirit, family and community that make Bearcat Nation special.

Local businesses, alumni, families, neighbors and Bearcats of every generation — there’s a place for you in the celebration.

1 Team. 1 District. 1 Bearcat Nation. 💚

One more year. One more chapter. And plenty of Bearcat pride left to show. 💚

As Heskett Middle School begins its final school year serving BCSD students in grades 6–8, Principal Lania Crawford has a clear vision: make this year one to remember.

That starts with celebrating the people who make Heskett special.

As part of an ongoing effort to bring even more culture, positivity and pride into the building, Heskett recently unveiled its new Character Wall — featuring creative, personality-filled portraits of the faculty and staff who show up every day for our students.

It’s a fun addition with a meaningful purpose: helping students see the people behind the educators, while celebrating the personalities, passion and people that make up the Heskett family.

And Mrs. Crawford says there’s more to come.

Heskett has a storied place in Bedford City Schools history, and as we look ahead to the opening of the new Bedford Middle School in Fall 2027, there is still an important chapter to write right here.

Here’s to making Heskett’s final year as our middle school one of its very best.

Welcome Back, Bearcats! 💚🐾
