PLANT NURSERY WORKER (BEDFORD, VA)

Position Description:
Nursery Worker to assist in all aspects of the nursery from potting, pruning, spacing, w**ding, and fertilizing plants to loading / unloading trucks as well as selecting plants for orders.
Requirements:
• This position is physically demanding – working outside in all weather conditions, lifting upwards of 50 pounds on a day-to-day basis, spending 8 hours a day standing, moving, loading.
• Must be able to prioritize workload, be flexible as work demands change, and be able to work independently with little supervision.
• Must have good communication skills, listening skills, and willingness to work cooperatively with all members of the nursery.
• Must be courteous, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and trustworthy.
• Must be able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions.
Qualifications:
• Tractor driving experience, familiarity with power equipment, and a background of agriculture, horticulture, or landscaping a plus.
• Knowledge of plants is preferred but not required. The right person must have a desire to learn and become familiar with botanical plant names and be able to identify plants.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Hours:
• Full time hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday (adjusted seasonally).
• Part time positions may be available for the right candidates.
