Due to Indiana Senate Enrolled Act 287, the 2025 law that made school board elections partisan elections, I will not be seeking another term as the District 2 Board Member for NLCS this November. The Hatch Act prevents federal employees such as myself from participating in partisan politics. Even running as an undeclared candidate would still be in violation of Hatch if another candidate declares a party affiliation. Thus, I will step aside and encourage others with a passion for our public schools to serve in this role, with the hope that partisan politics do not upstage the many challenges facing our public schools. The window to submit a petition to the Lawrence County Clerk’s Office to qualify as a candidate for the November 2026 election is May 19th to June 18th. I will continue to serve out my term until replaced by the next District 2 representative, who will be elected in Nov 2026 and sworn in Jan 2027. I will take down this FB profile soon after that window closes.
