We are incredibly grateful to all of the community members who came out to support Stratton Energy Express this summer. Whether you volunteered your time or made a generous donation, your contribution made an immeasurable impact on our students and staff. Your willingness to invest in our children's lives speaks volumes about the strength and compassion of our community, and we cannot thank you enough for everything you've done to make this program a success.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to our awesome community coordinator, Kaylen Parks, as well as our marvelous mentors—Delaney Buckland, Allie Adkins, Meadow Roberts, and Louie Boyd. Of course, this program wouldn't be complete without our fabulous custodian, Dana Scott, and wonderful cooks, Keith Wooten and Libby Sargent. This program takes up almost all of one's summer and requires tremendous dedication and hard work, but what fun we have making a huge difference in little lives! Your energy, creativity, and love for these children shine through every single day, and you are all deeply appreciated. Thank you for giving so much of yourselves to brighten the futures of our students.

Stratton Energy Express families, if you haven't done so already, please take a moment to complete our adult caregiver feedback survey. This survey measures various things, including satisfaction, the child’s interest in reading before and after participation, perception of increase in literacy, and most valued aspects of
Energy Express. This survey is remarkably helpful in creating future evaluation tools and reporting on outcomes.

During Week 6, our students will complete their final STEM project that coordinates with "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer. In this book, the boy's journey mirrors the engineering design process as he identifies a need, researches solutions, experiments with materials, and improves his design through trial and error. Our students will be designing and testing their own wind-powered devices.
