WWHS Counseling Department

Class of 2027, Exception to the Attendance forms are now available for the 26-27 school year. Students are required to have EITHER a part time job OR taking a college course outside of the dual credit courses offered at WWHS. BLUE forms are required for an employment exception and GREEN forms are required for a college course exception.
Students must have a 2.75 cumulative GPA and good attendance to qualify for exception to attendance. Forms are posted on Schoology and available in the main office.

The timeline to submit forms is as follows:

Forms submitted on or before June 12th will be submitted for BOE approval at the 8/11/26 meeting and students should be able to sign out on their first day of school 8/26/26.

Forms submitted after June 12th until the final deadline of 9/1/26 will be submitted for BOE approval at the 9/2/26 meeting and students will be required to attend school full days from 8/26-9/3.
Forms are posted on Schoology and printed copies are available in the main office.

School counselor’s last day of work for 25-26 is 6/18/26 and first day of the 26-27 year is 8/19/26.

Make sure to download any files you wish to keep to a personal email or Google account before turning in your MacBook. Save any login and password you information as well. You won’t have access to it once your MacBook is turned in. This is especially important for our seniors.

Class of 2026 please remember your cap and gown for the group photo tomorrow morning at 8am!

Forms due to school counselor by May 19, 2026

Parents and guardians please join us for College Signing Day next Wednesday morning at 8:30am. Students signed up the week of April 13-23 to participate and will be excused from class. The following Colleges/Universities will be attending:

Bluefield State University
WVU TECH
Concord University
Marshall University
WVU- WVU TECH will be helping with these student’s signing

They will NOT be accepted after Winter Break! You
MUST submit a new form for second semester even if you were approved for exception (lock out) first semester. Forms are posted on Schoology, posted 12/1/25 and on the counter in the main office.

For anyone who has signed up to take the ACT tomorrow at Shady Spring High School, the test has been postponed until January 10. The testing materials have not arrived. If you will not be able to test on January 10, you can complete a change of test date with ACT at no cost.
