One last post from Susan Wood. 💛 💙

After nearly six years, today is my last day as Director of Career & Professional Development at WVU Tech.

There have been a lot of career fairs, resumes, mock interviews, classroom visits, employer meetings, emails, events, graduation days, and “Can you look at this really quick?”conversations along the way. But the best part has always been the people.

To every student who trusted me with a question about what comes next, every employer and alum who showed up for our students, and every colleague who helped make an idea happen—thank you. It has been an absolute privilege to do this work with you.
Career Services will continue to support our Golden Bears. Going forward, please direct Career Services questions to Dan Sepion.

As for me, I may be leaving the office, but I’m not really leaving WVU Tech behind. Once a Golden Bear, always a Golden Bear. 🐻 💛 💙

Thank you to Princeton Community Hospital for hosting us yesterday and for a lively conversation around collaboration opportunities!

Thank you to T. Ramon Stuart, PhD and his team from West Virginia University Institute of Technology for visiting today. We enjoyed a great conversation about opportunities to collaborate, from expanding educational opportunities to supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals.

We’re fortunate to have another strong university partner right here in southern West Virginia, and we look forward to finding new ways to work together to benefit students, our workforce, and our communities.

Last week, our Director of Career & Professional Development, Susan Wood, had the honor of leading an icebreaker during the WVU Tech Faculty & Staff Institute—and yes, the announcement of an icebreaker was met with exactly the reaction you’d expect. 😂

After a collective groan echoed through the room, everyone jumped in, and it quickly turned into plenty of laughter, conversation, and connection. The positive feedback afterward confirmed it: Susan successfully pulled off an icebreaker that people actually enjoyed! We’re calling that a win. 🏆

Susan also had the opportunity to introduce John Jarrett, who shared information about our upcoming Career Mentorship Event and how faculty and staff can help us continue connecting Golden Bears with alumni and industry professionals.

It was a great way to kick off a new academic year—and now it’s officially here!

On Monday, Susan Wood, Director of WVU Tech Career & Professional Development, had the pleasure of presenting to the WVU Tech TRIO Upward Bound summer program. As always, the student participants came prepared with questions about how to dress for success and about being ready for the workplace. Thanks for including us in this incredibly impactful program!

As part of our Real World Readiness Course on Monday, we were joined by Susan Wood, Director of Career and Professional Development, who led students in a discussion on proper attire for important life events, such as job and scholarship interviews and award ceremonies. Thank you, Susan!
