We wrapped up our summer on the WVU Tech campus with group Capstone Presentations. Each group was challenged to develop an amusement park on a mountaintop removal site in southern West Virginia. Presentations included sample rides, menus featuring Appalachian food, cryptid park characters, safety and parking plans, and much more.

Each group did an amazing job showcasing Appalachian culture and innovation.

We would like to thank the office for providing participants with professional attire through the WVU Tech Career Closet.

On Monday, June 29th, we hosted a "60th Anniversary Celebration" for our program and were joined by program alumni from 1966 and 1967. Current participants heard from Phil Redden, former WVU Tech TRIO SSS Professional Math Tutor, about the first summer program in 1966, as well as WVU Tech President Dr. T. Ramon Stuart.

As we wrap up the 2026 Summer Program, we want to thank everyone who has supported our students this summer and who believes in the program's mission. We couldn't do this without you! Words can't truly capture our immense gratitude!

We aren't slowing down either! Thankful for the students, families, school partners, and WVU Tech for their support over these past six decades.

Students spent Tuesday evening with members of the West Virginia Army National Guard, learning more about the opportunities the Guard offers. Additionally, students had the opportunity to test their skills at the rock wall.

A special "Thank You" to SSG Aaron Walker for making the rock wall a reality for our students!

On Tuesday, participants had the opportunity to hear from West Virginia University Institute of Technology President T. Ramon Stuart, PhD. President Stuart also took part in a Q&A session in which students asked about his educational and personal journey that led him to WVU Tech.

As part of the Summer Program, several students are taking part in our Culinary Elective Course, led by Chef Cacie from the WVU Tech Culinary Program. Students now know how to make pepperoni rolls and biscuits from scratch with more items on the menu over the next few weeks.
