Snake River Farm Minnesota We raise and sell grass-fed bison, beef, and pastured hogs. Sold by the 1/4 & 1/2, direct to families We pasture raise all of our animals in a natural setting.

We sell grassfed bison and beef and pastured hogs direct to the consumer, by the1/4 and 1/2. We pasture harvest our animals to minimize stress for them and for us. The Snake River created a unique landscape of native prairie, oak savanna, wooded lowlands, wet meadows and tamarack swamp. We seasonally rotate the herds through open and wooded pastures as is best for the animals and the land. Meat an

imals are humanely harvested and processed locally. We tame mustang horses that we adopt from the BLM as yearlings. We train all of our horses to ride, to drive and for farm work. a one-room schoolhouse, farm museum and wildlife. Raising a bottle calf to health and maturity is a great sense of accomplishment. Watching a once vulnerable calf grow to the point where it can graze with the herd isn't easy but our farmers put the work into two needy little calf's this season! They are so friendly it's like a big ol dog running to greet you, especially Charcoal 😆

Writing from Farmer Samantha -Tom & Gail have hundreds of bird houses on the farm. Birds, along with insects, are an excellent indicator of how healthy soil and its ecosystem is. They provide pest control, aid in seed dispersal, help fertilize the soil and pollinate flowers. On particularly nice days, I hook the harrow up to the back of the Super M tractor and drag the fields. I’ve noticed the return of a Sand Hill Crane family that lives in our NE pasture. Another photo from Thursday evening. It wasn't until I downloaded the shoot did I realize how mystical it seemed. I don't mean haunted but like a spirit animal type feeling. Just in case you're wondering the bison is not who my spirit animal test revealed. Nope it said I'm aligned with an otter 😂 to clarify there are definitely 2 bison in the photo. The dust-sunlight silhouettes the bison & just made for a unique capture.

Amber Dusk - When the Dust & The Light Turns The Ordinary To Something More. Last evening it was an adventure finding the bison herd. They were tucked way back near the dig site on the farm. Deep in tree cover, the bison cool off by rolling in the dust which made for a unique capture.

With Back to School fast approaching I wanted to feature the one room schoolhouse located on the farm.
The Kragero School District 47 was located in Santiago Township. The school got its name from the people in the area who had emigrated from Kragero, Norway. These people decided there was a need for a school and held their first planning meeting in the summer of 1897. At the meeting it was determined where the school would be located, and two acres were purchased from local farmer Jens Ellefson. He was the first settler to own the land that is now Snake River Farm.
