On day 35 we read about Joachim and Anna, our Most Holy Theotokos' parents. "The angel told Joachim that Mary was chosen to be the Mother of God. Because it was understood that she would give birth to our Lord, Zacharias allowed her to enter into the holiest of holies. This is where the Ark of the Covenent was kept, and it was very special because God was present in the Ark. Mary is like the Ark and would also become a mystical container for the One True God, so it was appropriate that she be there in that holiest place."

It's day 34 and today we read the story of Daniel in the lions' den. "God's prophets are like a lamp to the whole world, shining the light of Christ into the darkness. Daniel fulfilled this role well, showing God's light to the Chaldeans in Babylon. He did not lecture them or argue with them, but instead he just lived a holy life. We can learn from Daniel how to quietly witness to God's greatness without arguments or words."

For day 33's reading, we hear about the youths in the furnace. "The Son of God did not abandon His beloved youths in this strange land filled with false gods, but when they were cast into the terrible fiery furnace, He joined them there! He loved them so much, that He would go anywhere to protect them. Especially when someone is suffering, God comes to them, joining them in the difficult places."
