This fall we had an amazing harvest of grapes and canned over 60 quarts of juice! Yum, so delicious! Our field trip to the pumpkin patch was a lot of fun in the mud! The girls chose 10 pumpkins so all the students would have one to take home. As the weather became cooler the children began choosing more indoor activities including practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and art. The kids enjoyed holiday crafting, holiday baking and playing out in the snow. Happy holidays everyone, wishing you all love, peace, joy and hope for 2017!

During the summer the children were outside most of the time; watering plants, planting flowers, picking berries or playing in the sandbox. The beautiful warm weather gave the children the freedom to move from indoors to outdoors as they explored and followed their natural interests. We went on several field trips and had fun playing in the water on "Fun Fridays"!

As the gardens begin waking from their Winter's nap the children are energized to be outdoor explorers and scientists, to be actively moving and physically involved in the gardens, planting, watering and feeding the worms. The children love St. Patrick's Day, making hats and marching to everything that is green and colorful and bursting with life!

Over the winter months children had opportunities to become Fire Chiefs, Doctors or Police Officers; to practice yoga, care of self, the environment and others. They learned how to button, snap, zip and hang their coats. They worked independently or in small groups, exploring, discovering and mastering skills.

Our 2014 - 2015 school year is in full swing and we are already seeing some signs of fall as we settle into the classroom for some hands on learning. In recognition of our windy day we decided to make some windsocks today!
Our grapes are sweetening on the vine as they soak up the rays from another sunny day. We have already started harvesting our grapes and using our dehydrator to turn them into raisins. This is always an exciting time for the children as they witness this "scientific change" in our classroom.
It is amazing how being a part of this process creates a desire in each child to try new foods. We will be drying green beans in the weeks ahead and hope for the same magic!!
