Winter Walk + Roll To School Day

Tomorrow is Winter Walk + Roll Day! Here are five tips for the night
before this event:

Plan your route.
Set out your coat, lights, helmet, and gear.
If biking, check the tire pressure, lights, and chain.
Think of a way to make it fun!
Leave early so you can take your time enjoying being outside

Día de Caminar + Rodar a la Escuela en Invierno

¡Mañana es el Día de Caminar + Rodar en Invierno! Aquí hay cinco
consejos para la noche anterior a este evento:

Planea tu ruta.
Prepara tu abrigo, luces, casco y equipo.
Si vas en bicicleta, verifica la presión de las llantas, luces y
cadena.
¡Piensa en una forma de hacerlo divertido!
Sal temprano para que puedas tomarte tu tiempo disfrutando
del exterior.

Winter Walk + Roll to School Day

Winter Walk + Roll to School Day encourages students and families to
enjoy active transportation in the winter and all year round. So bundle
up and join the fun on Wednesday, Feb 4th! A walk in the fresh air is
the perfect way to prepare for a day in the classroom - make it special
by meeting up and walking with a friend!

Día de Caminar + Rodar a la Escuela en Invierno

El Día de Caminar + Rodar a la Escuela en Invierno anima a los
estudiantes y sus familias a disfrutar del transporte activo en
invierno y durante todo el año. ¡Así que abrígate y únete a la
diversión el miércoles 4 de Febrero! Una caminata al aire libre es la
manera perfecta de prepararse para un día en el aula; hazlo especial
encontrándote y caminando con un amigo.

You can donate blue bags any time of the year, but funds raised for the PTM now through Dec. 2 will receive an extra 20% (via blue bags or online donations from your green bags accounts). Funds will go toward community events, field trips and staff support. You can request a blue bag or donate directly to the PTM. Links in our bio.

Piccolo Mondo Toys is a local toy store with three locations. They are one of our best sponsors. They donate gift cards and toys for prizes for our events throughout the year.
This year when you shop at their stores from November 17th to November 22nd and mention McKinley, 15% of your purchase will support our school!
On Thursday, November 20th, all 3 locations are hosting a late night shopping and snacks event! They will stay open until 8:30 p.

BottleDrop Give is a program that allows Oregon nonprofits, like the PTM to raise funds by collecting beverage containers. The funds raised will go towards McKinley community events (like the upcoming Glow Dance Party), class field trips and general McKinley support.

Please fill out the form in our bio if you would like to get a FREE blue bag sent home with your student. You can also pick up a bag from McKinley's front office under the visitor/volunteer sign in kiosk.

Fill your bag with empty beverage containers. Plastic, aluminum, and glass can all go in the same bag. No need to sort!

Once your bag is full, take it to any Drop Location (like Fred Meyer or Tanasbourne Target), scan the McKinley QR sticker on the bag, drop off your bag.

The contents of the bag will be counted and credited to McKinley!

Are you a green bag family? You can transfer a portion of your personal BottleDrop balance online directly to Parents and Teachers for McKinley.

This is a year long program but during BottleDrop Give donated funds and bags dropped off between November 15 – December 2 receive a 20% match from BottleDrop Give!

Ruby Bridges’ Walk to School Day is tomorrow! Join students from
around the country in a walk for justice and take steps to build a
better future where racism, and all forms of bullying, have no place.

Join the Walking School Bus! We will meet at 7:15 am at Autumn Ridge Park on 11/14 and walk to McKinley together in honor of Ruby.

Ruby Bridges made history at 6 years old when she integrated William
Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans and became a national icon
for the civil rights movement in 1960.
