I grew up with the gift of a music-filled home: heard scales and songs being practiced on the piano, was sung to sleep by hippie sisters with guitars at the foot of my bed, got annoyed by a scream, as I did math homework, when a sibling couldn't quite get a certain violin passage right, memorized the entire bass-line parts of several 60s and 70s rock songs as my brother unwound after work by donni

ng headphones and strapping on his bass to accompany Frank Zappa, Hot Tuna, and the Allman Brothers Band. Then, of a nigth, there was Dad blasting Smetna's Moldau in the basement on his hi-fi or, by day, Mom whistling Italian arias in the basement while she did laundry. Humans need music to feed their souls. Like Walt Whitman, I want to Hear America Singing, so my mission is to spread the personal enjoyment and sense of success and fulfillment that comes from mastering the ability to sing and make music in your own life.

School is nearly over! How about getting yourself or a loved one started on weekly music lessons this summer? Or you and five of your friends can sign up for a five half-day week of guitar camp!
