It is with tremendous sadness that we share the news that former principal Mr. Joe Sens passed away earlier this morning.

Mr. Sens dedicated 45 years of his life to serving our students and community as a science teacher (1966-1979), science department chair (1969-1979), assistant principal (1979-1983), and principal (1983-2011). In 2016, Mr. Sens received the Honorary Patriot award and was inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.

During his time as principal, Mr. Sens made academics his number one priority and hired only the best teachers. He raised the standards of education at Archbishop Carroll High School, increased the offerings of honors courses, and introduced AP courses into the curriculum, while also maintaining the Catholic character of the school. Mr. Sens' favorite memories from his time at Carroll are those of the people he served and with whom he worked, he said in 2016.

We invite the Carroll community to share their memories of Mr. Sens by leaving a comment on our website. As a way to honor Mr. Sens' life and legacy, his family has established the Principal Joe Sens Memorial Scholarship Fund to support students and their families who are pursuing Catholic education at Carroll.
