The MAHE program is a Master's program in higher education offered through Geneva College.

The program provides solid theoretical and professional foundations for work in higher education. The concentration areas (student affairs, college teaching, educational leadership, and campus ministry) enable students to develop an area of expertise according to their interests. Our program is flexible as well, offering several ways to complete the degree work. The two predominant models for completing coursework are the cohort program and the institute model. Students enrolled in the cohort model work on campus at Geneva in assistantships, completing contextualized learning hours in various positions on campus alongside coursework. For people already working in other contexts, we also offer an institutes model, where students may take courses via the summer institute (2 weeks in une) and/or winter institute (1 week in January) and complete the coursework throughout the year--a distance learning program with a short residential component. Many of our students hold full-time positions at institutions all around the country, making our institutes a great environment to learn from colleagues around the country as well as from the course content. Next up on our student spotlight series, we are featuring Rene Phelps! Rene serves as the executive assistant to the office of the president at Lancaster Bible College (LBC), and she loves being able to support LBC’s mission and leadership through her role by handling behind-the-scenes details. She came to the MAHE program last summer after being recommended to the program while at Reformation Bible College and is already grateful for transformation through the program’s “evergreen education.” Outside of higher education, Rene enjoys reading, hiking, and cooking.

For our first MAHE student spotlight of the year, we are featuring Dan Fry! Dan graduated from Geneva College in May of this year with a Bachelor of Arts in History and joined the MAHE program because of his love of learning environments and a desire to understand them more. He is now serving as a Graduate Assistant for the Crossroads office, where he works with international students and honors students, helping to plan events for them. Outside of higher education, Dan enjoys playing basketball, video games, acting in theater, watching movies, and hanging out with friends.

We have another MAHE alumni spotlight, this time featuring Justine Dyk! Justine graduated from the program in 2025 and now works as the Manager of Recruitment and Admissions for the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University, with a focus on Specialized and Graduate programs. She credits the MAHE program for preparing her to work with students from all different kinds of backgrounds, which helped her to transition from her previous work with undergraduate students to her present role working with graduate students. Justine is especially grateful to Dr. Keith Martel, who helped her to think more deeply about the purpose of higher education: what it’s for and who it’s for. Today, she keeps her philosophy of higher education, “The Pursuit of Truth and Human Flourishing,” at the top of her daily meeting notes.

As we finish up our first week of classes, the MAHE program is highlighting one of our alumni, Eric White II. Eric graduated from the program in 2025 and now works as an English teacher and football coach in Houston, Texas. He also serves as a youth minister and is working toward a doctoral degree. Eric thanks the MAHE program for helping to shape his philosophies into practice from a Christian perspective, especially remembering an important conversation he had with Program Director, Dr. Henrique Alvim, on God's power in cultivation.

Before our faculty and students get back to work with the beginning of the fall semester, we wanted to highlight our Capstone presentations from last May. We are so thankful for our students and their hard work and deep commitment to the field of higher education, as well as their faculty advisers, family, and friends who supported them along the way. Congratulations!

We're back from summer break with a big announcement: our offices have moved! We are now located in Patterson House at 3244 4th Avenue. We're so excited to host our students, faculty, and alumni at our new home base!

Congratulations to our amazing MAHE graduates! Throughout your time at Geneva College, you have worked hard and persevered through many long days for this moment. Thanks be to God for his faithfulness throughout your journeys! We are also grateful for our faculty and staff who supported these students along the way and for the families and friends who were always there for our students. We will be praying for each of you as you go forward to serve and lead with wisdom. Class of 2026, congratulations!
