Choosing a school for your child comes with a lot of feelings.
Joy. Anxiety. Hope. And about 47 mental checklists at 2 a.m.
At The Montessori School on 11th Street , we don’t take that lightly.
We build calm, consistent classrooms where children are known deeply, cared for gently, and supported by teachers who truly see them.
So you can exhale a little when you walk away in the morning.
And maybe even drink your coffee while it’s still warm.💛☕

The Original Tiny Furniture Revolution
Next time you see your child sit at a perfectly child-sized table, thank Maria Montessori! 🪑
Back in 1907, school classrooms looked like courtrooms—heavy, dark, adult-sized benches bolted to the floor where children were expected to sit completely still. Dr. Montessori realized the environment was a physical barrier to learning. She went to local carpenters and had lightweight, child-sized tables and chairs custom-built so children could independently manage their own space.
Independence isn’t just an abstract concept; it’s a physical setup. When a child can easily move their own chair or reach a low shelf, they learn that they are capable, trusted members of their community.
💡 Curious about how she designed the first classroom? Take a look at:

Field Day: 1, Heat Index: 1,000,000+. 🥵🏆
We had an absolute blast today! From giant bowling and bubble stations to jump ropes and potato sack races for the older students, it was pure, unadulterated chaos...and we loved every second of it.
Huge thanks to everyone who came out (especially our teachers!), played hard, and stayed hydrated. It was hot, it was wild, but it was an awesome day! 🫧🥔✨

Most people try to avoid snakes, but around here, we count on them! 🐍🙃
It is always a beautiful full-circle moment when our former students come back to visit us for the summer. This week, we captured some wonderful moments of a younger girl and an older boy, both now thriving in traditional schools, diving right back into the math materials with different versions of the Snake Game.
In these photos, you can see the amazing progression of learning at work. Our younger student is carefully navigating the Addition Snake Game, building on her foundation, while our older student has taken on the fun challenge of the Subtraction Snake Game.
If you are new to Montessori, the Snake Games can look a bit like a interesting puzzle or a colorful art project. In reality, they are brilliant, multi-step math lessons designed to introduce complex operations. The children count, exchange, and subtract their way down a long, multicolored bead "snake" until it is transformed into a solid golden snake of tens.
While they make it look super easy, it is actually a surprisingly complex concept that often makes adults scratch their heads when they see it for the first time. It requires incredible focus, sequential steps, and deep working memory.
Seeing these two jump straight back into these challenges is the perfect reminder of how deeply the Montessori foundation sticks with children. Long after they move on to new schools, that muscle memory, love for concrete problem-solving, and focus remains right there.💛
Welcome home for the summer! We love seeing your brilliant minds at work. ☺️

The best kind of summer morning is back on the field. We had a massive downpour right before we were supposed to start, but the skies cleared up and the rain quit just in time for our first official session with Soccer Shots Mont Belvieu/Beaumont!
The energy out there was pure toddler joy as our little soccer stars wasted no time chasing after balls, letting out their biggest kicks, and running all over the damp grass. There is honestly nothing better than watching them burn off some of that endless energy, and celebrating every single kick with a massive smile. 💛

Our search for the absolute perfect playdough recipe continues! Today, we decided to try a two-ingredient concoction: shaving cream and cornstarch.
The verdict? While it did make an incredibly soft, cloud-like, and interesting sensory dough, it ended up being a bit more of a messy explosion than something we could easily mold and play with. In fact, things got so bright and sticky that we joked it was turning our little mixer into Smurfette! 🟦 Hilarious? Yes. Practical for a calm afternoon? Not quite!
If you want to try this messy sensory experiment at home, here is the quick recipe we used:
☁️ Shaving Cream Sensory Dough Recipe
1 cup of cornstarch
1 cup of foaming shaving cream
A drop or two of food coloring (optional, but highly recommended if you want your own Smurf experience!)
Instructions:
Mix the ingredients together in a bowl. If it’s too sticky, add a sprinkle more cornstarch; if it’s too crumbly, add a bit more shaving cream. Prepare for messy hands and lots of giggles!

Our toddlers have been incredibly busy at the sand tables lately, and by busy, we mean completely dedicated to the fine art of moving sand from Container A to Container B. Over and over again. It is a masterclass in concentration, heavy lifting, and testing exactly how much sand can fit into a tiny bucket, or better yet, watching it beautifully cascade all the way to the ground.
Of course, a good portion of the sand table also seems to find its way into their shoes and hair, but we consider that a sign of a highly successful morning.
