We said goodbye to the last of our kids at recess yesterday. We are going to miss them, but are comforted in knowing we found them great homes! Our students are already looking forward to next year’s kidding season.

How are we celebrating Women’s History Month?

Oh… you know… just casually continuing the legacy of Maria Montessori. No big deal.

Just carrying on the work of a woman who:
• Became one of the first female physicians in Italy in the early 1900s
• Completely revolutionized education by proving children learn best through independence, curiosity, and hands-on discovery
• Designed beautiful materials that help children see and touch abstract concepts
• Introduced the world to mixed-age classrooms, uninterrupted work cycles, and respect for the child
• Reminded adults everywhere that the goal of education is not to fill a child with facts, but to help them build themselves

So this month like all others, we’re over here doing things like:
- Preparing environments
-Observing children
-Protecting concentration
- Following the child
- Teaching peace

Because every time a child ties their first bow, discovers the binomial cube, resolves a conflict with a friend, or reads their first word…

That’s a little piece of Maria Montessori’s legacy still changing the world.
