My career goal is to become an optometrist. I am passionate about vision care - as a glasses wearer myself, I still remember the experience of looking out of the window after receiving my first pair of glasses and being able to finally see small details like the leaves on trees and blades of grass that I had all but forgotten!
As a prospective applicant for the Peer Health Educator role my freshman year, I had the opportunity to represent the Student Health Center at multiple events across campus through the HealthyCards program. Being a Healthy Card allowed me to meet so many people through Cardinal Communities classes, presentations, tabling in the Student Setzer Center, and more. I became a Peer Health Educator because I wanted to become more involved on campus while sharing about topics that I knew were applicable to college students. So grateful to be a part of the PHE team!
I love going on long walks while listening to music! Also, purchasing a water bottle that I like has made it much easier to stay hydrated throughout the day.
I would love to share more about vision care, specifically caring for the meibomian glands! After shadowing optometrists over the summer, I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to distribute information about what I learned through flyers throughout campus. The opportunity to connect current health interests to my future career goals is especially appealing, so sharing about vision care is something that I look forward to doing.
