The event is open to ALL the students, not just international students. It will be a 5 v 5 indoor soccer match between the countries!

5 v 5 Indoor Soccer Rules:
The soccer event will be held in the indoor soccer arena at the Rec Center. It will be a 5 v 5 soccer tournament.

General Rules:
1. A team must contain at least 5 players, including the goal keeper.
2. A team can have up to 3 substitute players.
3. There can be a maximum of up to 2 teams representing a country. For eg: There can be two teams for Mexico, and we’d call them Mexico Team A and Mexico Team B. But the players in both the teams must be different, i.e. no overlapping players.
4. The team can include both men and women.
5. The players in a single team don’t necessarily have to be from the same country.

Game Rules:
1. Duration:
a. The game will be played for two equal periods of 15 minutes.
b. Two time-outs per team per game is allowed – 60 seconds each.
c. The half-time will be for a maximum of 5 minutes.

2. Substitution Method:
a. “Flying Substitution” (All players but the goalkeeper enter and leave as they please; goalkeeper substitutions can only be made when the ball is out of play).
b. Players entering the arena must wait for the player leaving the arena to be fully off from the field of play prior to entering the game.
c. Substitutions are limited to 2 per half-time.

3. The possession of the ball for the start of the game will be decided by a coin toss.
4. The ball is said to be out-of-bounds if the ball flies high enough to reach the covering nets.

The International Student Council is hosting the Soccer Tournament in October 2019!
