Through our First Year Engineering Bootcamp, our freshman had the opportunity to build connections, learn from returning students, and gain valuable insight from industry professionals as they prepare for their journey in the College of Engineering.

We’re proud to see so many of our students taking the initiative to strengthen their skills, grow their networks, and set themselves up for success from day one. ❤️

⭐Summer Intern Spotlight!⭐

Industrial Engineering and Speech & Hearing Sciences major Christie spent her summer as an Area Manager Intern with Amazon in Waco, Texas! 📦 Throughout her internship, she led process improvement projects focused on defect analysis, safety compliance, automation, and accessibility, using data-driven solutions to make a measurable impact on the floor. One of her biggest takeaways was learning how to lead in an environment where every decision impacts hundreds of people and how to turn ambiguous problems into structured outcomes.

Chemical Engineering major Melanie Escoto recently completed her co-op as a Manufacturing Engineer Intern with Smurfit Westrock in Florence, South Carolina. Working in the Fiber Department at their Containerboard and Kraft Linerboard Paper Mill, she gained valuable real-world industry experience and learned the fundamentals of papermaking.

We've been absolutely loving Project Engineer this week! ❤️We've enjoyed a full day learning about Mechanical Engineering ⚙️ from Blue Origin and our professors here at LU, and another full day learning about Chemical Engineering from local industry! 🧪

👏👏👏Thank you to ExxonMobil for teaching us about PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and Color changing reactions! 🧑‍🔬🤩Thank you to Motiva for teaching our students all about Heat Transfer and helping us make ice cube coolers! 🧊🫠and thank you to our LU Alum from Blue Origin for sharing about the aerospace career to our high school campers! 🚀🐦
