👏 Congratulations to Student Body President 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭 on his election as the 2026-27 Student Advisory Board Chair for TSUS! The election took place at the TSUS Board of Regents quarterly meeting held in Austin.

He’s energized LU by spreading school spirit through the Flock and beyond. ⚡ 🤩 Now he’s bound to do the same for TSUS, as he takes on the helm of a board that solves student issues on a system-wide level for TSUS’s seven institutions spanning 700+ miles from West Texas to the Gulf Coast.

🔙🕰️ WAYBACK WEDNESDAY: Fun memories of Honors Cardinals helping COE celebrate its 75th anniversary this year by participating in the college’s largest-ever Discover Engineering event!

🦵⚡️↑ The Vertical Jump Tester (aka Vertec) was super popular with guests at POTC’s booth at the Spindletop Boomtown Museum! An engaging example of biomechanical engineering, the device can measure human performance, such as tracking lower-body explosive power, neuromuscular coordination, and rate of force development. Kids jumped to swipe the rotating plastic vanes to record the highest point reached.

Loved seeing our Exercise Science student leaders 𝐊𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐚 𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐲 and 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐓𝐮 utilize engineering concepts to track jump mechanics! 🤸🏻⚙️

As officers representing POTC (Pre-Physical Occupational Therapy Club), Kayla and Jenny had a great time bringing Exercise Science to life at Discover
Engineering.

🥞♨️ 𝐃𝐚𝐤𝐨𝐭𝐚 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒) also shared the engineering of pancakes as a representative of Indorama and its Fish-O-Rama annual charity event. He demonstrated how the perfect pancake requires proper batter formulation (material science), dispersion across the griddle (fluid mechanics), and cooking at optimal temperature to prevent burning crust while baking the interior (thermodynamics).

Such a blast helping local students find their passion for STEM early on!!!
