Mad Potters Kids Camp Day 5!

Today, students learned how to wax and glaze their pottery in a variety of ways. It was really cool for them to see their bisque ware and feel the difference between that and their unfinished pieces. Students can’t wait for the kiln to work its chemical magic and see their pieces come out beautiful and shiny!

They also studied one of Mr. Danny’s pottery professors, Victor Babu, who motivated and inspired Danny throughout college and beyond.

Our final activity was tie-dye, which was so much fun we forgot to take any pictures! We rinsed and unwrapped our shirts tonight so enjoy these and we hope all of our students have some really unique ones to share, too!

That’s a wrap on Mad Potters Camp 2026! Thank you to our fabulous group of Mad Potters this year - it was a blast to have you and we can’t wait to see you again! We’ll be starting kids classes back in the fall once school is back in session so keep an eye out for that on our webpage soon.

Mad Potters Camp Day 4!

We can’t believe that tomorrow is the last day, but these kids are crushing it! Today, campers planned and designed their own projects and discussed the types of clay and tools they would need before they began creating. They were so focused and intense that we almost forgot break time!

We saw the kiln in action and learned about Dave the Potter and how he threw pots, and then students saw a kick wheel demo (and told Mr. Danny that using the motor was cheating!) It’s been a great week so far - stay tuned to see what we do on Friday!

Mad Potters Camp Day 3!

If you’ve never thrown on the wheel, it can be tough! But these kids are tougher! They’re working so hard to master new skills and made some things today that really pushed their boundaries!

We also did hand-building with birdhouses. This was a delightfully challenging project for everyone. They pushed themselves with measuring, cutting, scoring, slipping, and finally making the projects their own.

We can’t believe camp is more than halfway over but I’m sure the best is yet to come!

Mad Potters Kids Camp Day 2!

We thought these kids did a great job yesterday, today they were unstoppable! They learned how to create forms with slabs and made some fun and funky mugs, baskets, and planters. Everyone tried their hand at the wheel again and overall, it was a fun filled day of exploring and learning.

We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Mad Potters Camp Day 1: Complete! 🐸

What an amazing group of kids we have in the studio this week! Their creativity was flowing, the wheels were spinning, and they’ve learned so much already.

We’re looking forward to seeing what this group of clever kids comes up with tomorrow!
