At LMS, sudents can graduate with Career and Technical Education "CTE" industry certifications that prepare them to be work force ready immediately upon graduation.

Providing a supported educational environment is a top priority at LMS. Which is why our federally funded CTE courses are on campus, allowing students a seamless transition between their academic and vocational education.

Thank you for supporting our mission to educate the next generation of thinkers and community members!

Today, we gathered to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Maria Montessori, founder of the Montessori Method.

The Montessori Method, first developed over one hundred years ago, has been widely recognized by researchers and educators.

Montessori teaching intends to foster the creativity of students by encouraging them to play independently. Students often can choose what to work with, and they interact with Montessori materials rather than with traditional toys. Through discovery rather than direct instruction, they work to develop independence, self-reliance, and confidence.

Thank you for supporting our mission to provide quality, hands-on education to Beaufort’s young students!

When people are hurting, we believe in showing up for one another.

A member of our Lowcountry Montessori School community has family and loved ones affected by the devastating earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10. In response, we are supporting a local collection effort to provide much-needed supplies to families impacted by the disaster.

This is an opportunity to put one of the most important parts of a Montessori education into action: compassion, responsibility, and care for our larger human community.

Donations may be brought to Francy Johannan’s Room (203). The collected items will be delivered to the Red Cross for distribution through the relief effort.

At LMS, we believe education extends beyond the classroom. It is about helping young people become thoughtful, compassionate members of their communities, both locally and globally.

Together, even small acts of care can make a difference. 🇨🇴❤️

Meda Watkins & Mimi Louque, LMS graduates, added final touches to their senior project, a little free library, to promote reading among their highschool peers. You can find it positioned right outside the highschool hub!

Meda & Mimi’s project serves not only as an educational tool for other students, but also showcases the value of craftsmanship and community, and skillsets that will serve them, and the other students at LMS, for a lifetime.

Thank you, Meda & Mimi, for your contrubition to LMS! We hope you and all our graduates have a smooth transition into the next phases of your life!

Our students had so much fun presenting the first Great Lesson on the solar system last week!

Great Lessons are an important part of the Montessori curriculum, designed to awaken a child's imagination and curiosity. During these lessons, we hope the children are struck with the wonder of creation, new ideas, and inventiveness of the human spirit.

The Five Great Lessons are traditionally presented in lower elementary, however, we had our upper elementary children present the content this year to solidify concepts and promote leadership skills. We use these lessons to create a framework for smaller ideas to fit into as we move deeper into the school year.

They consist of:

First Great Lesson - Coming of the Universe and the Earth
Second Great Lesson - Coming of Life
Third Great Lesson - Coming of Human Beings
Fourth Great Lesson - Communication in Signs
Fifth Great Lesson - The Story of Numbers
